All we use Oxacylic for is to clean concrete and to take rust stains off of vinyl.
You just spray it on vinyl and watch the rust disappear before your eyes (neat stuff) as for rust in concrete, it rinses off easily, just don't let the stuff dry or it will not work.

It also cleans overspray and sap and such off of autos.

What are the uses on wood for Qxacylic?

Oxalic is used on wood to neutralize strippers or other cleaning products. It is applied to the wood after power washing.

I use it on both decks and concrete. It works best if you mix it right before you apply it. I have had rust stains in concrete it wouldn't touch, guess it depends on how long the rust has been there and the source.

True...I have run into some nasty rust that it may lighten, but will not remove. And then some that it would not even lighten!

We have found there are two types of rust w/ concrete. Surface rust (sprinklers or an auto dripping onto the surface) and enbedded rust which I feel comes up through the concrete from the rebar or wire mesh within the concrete. Surface rust comes up without a problem. The embedded rust only lightens and still will carry a shadow. A couple things with oxalic......

Don't get it on any polished metals.... it will dull them, and make sure it is applied evenly across the concrete or you will have streak marks from where the oxalic ran down.

Ok guys,

If this oxacylic stuff is as good as some say I will try it myself, but just tell me where I can buy it?

Jon,

I have a local distributor in Corona that I buy it from in a powder form by the pound for a great price. I use it primariliy to de-scale my pw. It usually costs me about a buck a pound. You can mix it with water, and go from there. Let me know and I can get you their name and number.

Oxacylic on concrete

Greg,
Hit the nail on the head. You must first determine where the rust is coming from. Topical or within. A strong muriatic or phosphoric is good but diifferent strength and dwell time for embedded stains. Overall a good Alkaline cleaner should perform, and in desperation HYDROCHLORIC, but be careful and know what you are doing. Last resort, shot blast and start over.
Happy cleaning...Jay @ V-SEAL:cool:
