I hate traveling 1 hour to look at a building and flat work just to give a bid

I have a reality company call me and wanted a price on driveway and just the front of this house. I should of gave her a sq. foot price ..but I said I would be in the area today ............ Well I wont be in the area and thought about calling her and give her just a sq. ' price without looking at it.

What would be a a sq. ' price for flat and frt. of house.

I have an idea but thought I would compare it to somebody else's

DO you guys give bids with site un seen?


I have done probably a dozen of 'em and pretty much made out

But on this one I thought I would change the subject away from the election and see what your idea's are.

I'm not sure I'd want to take on any job site unseen because you never know what your getting yourself into.

Plus you would be making a burnt run if they decide not to accept your bid then your out quite a bit of windshield time and money.

I'd just say price it out to them as high as you would in the worst case scenario and be done with it, or else charge an estimate fee.

On jobs that are farther away, I'll quote a typical range, and tell them the exact figure depends on the severity of the cleanup required. Around here, concrete cleaning typically goes 8-10 cents s/f, but I have a minimum charge of $100, which likely would apply to a small job like a residential driveway.

For small jobs like that, I too would not drive out and look at it, especially considering fuel is $2/gal.

I would say, here is the range, and due to certain circumstances, I cannot make the trip out there twice. If you want the job done for that price range, I'll go out, do it, and send you the bill.

Do you use a minimum charge on everything or just flatwork?

Minimum charges apply to everything. Although it is a different amount depending on if I bring the cold water rig or the hot water rig.
