Recoil Starting RK-21

I figured this out a long time ago and just used it again today. Every once and awhile, the battery goes dead on my RK-21 so I have to pull start it. HINT ! Remove the kill wire from the oil pressure switch under the engine. You'll never get it to fire up with the recoil start becasue you can't spin it fast and long enough by pulling to build up the oil pressure to open the switch and allow the plugs to fire. Once engine is running, reconnect wire to be safe.

Lorin,

I dont know what you are talking about, I have no choice but to pull start my RK-21 and I dont have any problems unless I forget to turn the key to the start position. It is a bear to pull after a long day and not quite as much fun as the KEY! I just hope I get this solenoid soon because if not when I start my lawnmower I'm going to tear the cord right out of it!!!!!!!!!!! LOL

Lorin,

Thanks for the tip.....I'll have to try that. My second RK-24 does not start with the key since I pulled it out of storage. The other day, while pull starting it, the cord snapped and if not for someone standing behind me, I probably would have fallen and cracked my head open on the curb!

Where is this kill wire located??

Thanks!
