Rip in hose...

I have 4 50 foot sections of high pressure hose with quick connects. One of the sections this morning revealed a large tear right where the hose meets the metal part of the quick coupler. Can I just cut this part off, and put another quick coupler attachment on it, or do I have to buy another section of hose?

Any responses are appreciated!

Thanks,
Chris

Yes,take it to a farm supply store, let them cut and replace or use a repair kit which I do not like b/c of the extra wt.

If I understand yor post, the outer rubber cover is torn, & the hose is not leaking? The cover can be torn, ripped, abraded and should make not difference as long as the hose does not leak. My short section of hose we use down the ducts shows a lot of abuse, with a lot of the rubber cover gone because of sharp metel abrading the covering. if it is time to replace the hose end, try to use the same brand of end as was supplied w/the hose. Cut off an extra 6 or 8 inches to remove any comprimised hose braid.

Ron where you buying R2 hose for $60? That is the lowest price I have ever seen if true.

Not interested in the surpentine hose if that is it.

Why not the serpentine 2 wire at under $50 for 50 ft or 100ft fot $87?
I like it.

I stopped messing around fixing hoses, I carry a 4 or 5 50 foot hoses and when one blows I just QC it off and trash it then add a new one.

Why fuss over it, the time you waste driving around to get it fixed is not worth it.

If you work nights you will see my point after you waste time attempting to fix it a couple times.

Time = $$.

Driving around getting it fixed is time - $$.

Either way would work. I prefer, on a regular basis, to back the trailer up to my local napa and take off inside with the end of the hose, they start repairing and I start dragging. 30 minutes, 12 ends, and 300 feet later, all ends are brand new and in perfect shape for the price of one 50 foot section of new hose.

Sure i carry new hose for spares, but for 5 bucks an end, seems foolish to chunk a perfect hose.

NAPA where I live wont fix any hose they did not orig. sell you.
Insurance is crazy here. If you or a customer ever got hurt by that end breaking you could sue NAPA. They say its not worth the $5. Thats why i get new hose.
