Roof Washing

Hello every one I’m having such a problem with cleaning roofs. It’s taking me to long to complete a job. I have been using this product call M1 roof and deck cleaner. Its ok if you wont to spend all day trying to clean a roof .It took me two day to clean a 2000sqft house
That because it start to rain on me on Sunday. I wont to be able to wash from the ground.
Is there a chemical that I can use along with some other tools I can purchase to help me?
I spend all day on them and I lose money because I’m not doing something Wright.
This is what I use. Cold water unit, I apply the chemical let it dwell then I rinse with a wand using a 40-degree nozzle. Now keep in mind this roof I can walk it. Now the roofs
that are 45-degrees or less I think well be a problem I try to stay fair when comes to how much to charge. But when you are competing with the low baller. Man it’s hard. I’m thinking about giving up on the roof washing. If there is a faster way please let me know.

Thanks Daryl O

My understanding in order to clean the roof in a shorter amount of time you will need to have a higher volume of water and low pressure. About 8-12 gpm and 150 psi. You can go on the internet and type in roof cleaning and get all kinds of info. In Florida this is really big business. I have called a number of them and talked to them about the process. If you want a couple of addresses I can give them to you. There are many cleaners and companies out there. I had a company in Washington put together a rinsing system for me and it is due in this Friday. There is more info as well. Hope this helps. I will check back to see if you respond back.

I don't know what the posting rules are about promoting companies & products here. There are tools & chemicals out there...email me if you like.

We have built many 8 - 10 GPM units with pressures from 500 to 3000 PSI
for roof cleaning etc. Shake cleaning used to be big business in California.

I'm assuming you're talking about asphalt shingles. I use pool chlorine, applied with a 1.8gpm 100 psi 12v shurflo pump. Takes between 30 minutes and an hour to coat the roof. Some roofs I don't need to rinse, some I do, depends on how bad they are. With this setup I get very little runoff, and can do a roof on a 2000 square foot house in 2 hours or so with rinsing. I use a 2515 tip to rinse with. I keep the wand a good ways off the surface of the roof, and am rinsing with no more than garden hose pressure.

You can also use a sodium hydroxide cleaner, but I don't like the pressure needed to get the roof clean with those.

Not sure where you're located, and the availability and pricing on pool chlorine will depend on that.

roof wash

Good evening gents, I would like to thank everyone who had an opportunity to view and respond to my post. I was telling my wife that I was going to give the roof cleaning up and only focus on house washing. Thanks to the helpful advice from every one. I’m going to continue with the roof washing. Thanks for the insight gents you guys just give me some inspiration to keep trying.
