Shelving in an enclosed trailer

I debated for a while about buying or building a shelf unit for my enclosed trailer.

I finaly purchased an industrial/commercial wire rack shelf unit from H.D.

I anchored the unit directly to the the metal framing in the trailer using self tapping screws with fender washers.

I use bungee cords to keep the items on the shelves when transporting. The bungee cords wrap each other diagonaly and horizontaly creating a net.

Works great!

This is what I did....Also added a Crafstman rolling toolbox (without the casters) for tools and small parts...

Mike,

How long is the trailer ? I have 7 x 16's and dont even have room to walk around in. I will take photos today of our newest and maybe you guys can give me some pointers.

Of course we have a 535 gallon tank inside also. That takes most of the room

Mine is 7x14, but I only have a 225 gallon tank...I also have a 500 gallon, but don't have it installed, partly because I don't need that much water that often, and partly because it would make things much more crowded. The next trailerwill be a 16', if the next rig is a trailer and not a flatbed

Well, being this is my first year in business, that depends! What I like about a flatbed is the accessability of the equipment...There's another thread here with pics of a flatbed rig that Mark put together for David Salque, and I really like the idea of being able to pull hoses right off the sides of the truck, and having easier access to the washer. However, security is also a concern where I live...Our goal is to find some property and put a house on it, and once we do that I don't have to worry about people stealing things off the truck at night...Where I live right now my trailer is parked on the side of the street and would be easy pickings if it weren't in an enclosed trailer.

Anybody have any ideas on ladder racks inside trailers ? Right now we just hang ours on two hooks each inside. I am looking to change that to a slide in type of rack. Anyone have any ideas.

You should be able to have something fabricated fairly easily...Just two pieces of 1x 1/4 or 1x3/8 flat iron bent into a bracket that you bolt to the wall of the trailer. That's what I plan to do at some point.

B.E., I though about ladder racks on roof years ago. I know it would work but I do not want to break my back getting down on every job. On the issue of angle iron, that is pretty much what we have now but easier with two guys to put back in. I am looking to be able to slide these things in, maybe on a track or somethin. I did not know if anybody had any ideas.

We carry three ladders per truck. 28', 24' both extension ladders and a 10' stepladder. I have the two extension ladders hung up on the left wall as facing the rear. 28 on top and 24 on bottom. I have the 10' on the right was as facing rear beneth all the wands, guns, extention wand etc....

The problem is that our tanks are rather large 535 gallons. Not much room from side to side (maybe 1' on each side) this is the problem. We get em in/out but it is just awkward. I will take a picture today and post.
