State Parks: Anyone do biz with them?

I visited the state park here today and it is terrible. All the roofs the the cabins have terrible stains, some even have moss growing. There is mold growing on the sides of the cabins and the concrete picknic tables look black. The beautiful stone bridges and walkways also look terrible.

In other words, there is a lot of needed work to be done at the state park. It is only 10 minutes from me.

Has anyone dealt with state parks? How do you get in to do work for them? Or is it too much hassle and red tape?

Searching past threads, I saw a thread where "Dan S" was about to land a state park contract.

Dan, how did that go?

It sounded like in your post that you were going to get all of the state parks... I wonder if you would have to do multiple parks to get a contract or if you could just do one. It also sounded like you were after the contract for 3 years to get it... why so long? What's the process?

Thanks

Not a whole lot of money in State Parks, budget crunches have dryed up a lot of maintenance contracts. At least that is the way it is here in Texas

Walt (or anyone else) how would you go about to find out if you could get the job?

I'll probably be going back to the state park here in my area the begining of next we and ask at the park office if nothing else... It never hurts to ask.

hey Michael

I did one maybe two jobs .....

It's not bad you just have to know some guys to get anything done ... and they are TIGHT they want it done for next to nothing b/c of budget..

Just starting out in a new town, I would be willing to wash their cabins pretty cheap. I need to get some things going or I'm going to be broke soon. The park is only 5 minutes from me The cabins have walkable roofs, and there are a lot of them. I could do them pretty cheap because it would be one right after another... I would be able to clean a lot of sq feet per hour...

Should I go to the park office and ask around to find out who I need to talk to?

Thanks Dan, I think it would be better if I had 1 mill insurance, I just can't afford that right now. After I get a few jobs and can bump up my insurance, I'll wait to call on the state park.

Thanks again.
