Hello to all.I have a mahogony deck job coming up.There are a few things i need to ask.I am not sure of the previous stain.Should Ready Seal cleaner do the job for me?I understand i could call ready seal but would also like a response from some PW them selves. When cleaning a deck what pressure and degree is prefered? Thanks

ps:as a wise man somewere around here said (the more you learn the more you earn) how true it is:D

Are you referring to #123 cleaner? It would probably work, but dont forget to neutralize it.

If you have a more stubborn stain to remove, try the HD-80.

Hello Peevo,

I just finished a mahagony deck that I inquired about on the board a while back and it turned out awesome. It had a one year old failed finish from Cabots, so I just stripped it with a sodium hydroxide based stripper, and then neutralized it with oxcalic acid just like a normal deck. Because mahagony is a hardwood, there was very little to no furring of the wood itself after the entire cleaning process. When I sealed it, I used a brand new product from Cabots called Australian Timber Oil, which is designed for teak and mahagony (comes in 4 colors), the color the customer chose was "mahagony flame" , and they were thrilled with it. It was easier than I thought, and I really didn't do anything different than I would for a normal deck, except I brushed the sealer on to ensure proper penetration. Good luck,

Chris

Hey Chris,

That Australian Timber Oil is gorgeous, isn't it? We use it on some of the teak decks on the lake. Love the color and depth.

Warren,

That application was my first with that product, but I'm sold! It's awesome!
Glad to hear I'm not the only one!

Take care,

Chris
