Two stepping

I am not new to the two stepping process, just never persued it because of the added cost, until one of my bigger clients started complaining a little bit about, his trucks, I showed him the two step process and he was blown away. I used citric acid, and followed with a degreaser truck wash, they looked great. My problem is the citric acid is so expensive and it takes so much, so what I am looking for is a cheaper alternative to the citric acid. I know all about HF, and would prefere to stay away from it, if at all possible. just thought someone could help out a little bit. also I am installing a surflow pump for spraying my acid, and then I will use my down streamer for the degreaser. thanks for any help.

What part of OK are you from? I lived in OKC for a while. Are you trying to wash trucks with the process? What would you like to know? All acids are expensive compared to soap, altho that's not cheap anymore either. What are you expecting to spend? What did you spend on the test equipment you washed?

I don't know crap about 2-stepping. If the results are just blowing this guys mind, then why is cost even being considered?

I do know BUSINESS. Why worry about the cost when you have a customer that is sold on the results and the method? Raise the price to cover expense and make a profit. If the customer does not understand that better results usually result in added expenses, then fire the customer and find one that is willing to pay the price.

You' ve made a very good point. I guess some people don't want to do it because it is more hassle and expense initially, but a person sure can't argue with the results. They don't keep in mind that when the decreased labor costs are accounted for it actually makes it cheaper, plus, like you said, that is what makes them (the customer) happy. Two stepping is all we do and we've been doing it for over 30 years so we think that we've got a good handle on it.

I am not sure where your from (FCPWLLC), but there are so many small washing companies here in okc that, I would never thanks about fireing someone. BIODUDE I live a little south of okc, what I am working on is switching everyone I wash over to the two step process. most my accounts I was weekly or biweekly. do you think the sureflo pump is a good idea? I have looked around and found that is about the cheapest way. when I did a test wash I just used my downstream injector, and switched from acid to degreaser. I have just one more question, everyone has told me to stay away from the HF, but yet most people are still useing it, they say not to get it on you, I dont know if it's just me but I get soaking wet most the time when I wash. I did buy some acid w/ 7% mixture of HF, and when I used it I can't keep from getting overspray off my face, are you guy's wearing full face masks, and suits? THANKS FOR ANY HELP AND OR SUGGESTIONS
