I didn't see where you edited or deleted anything but I didn't see no threats or bashing either.

They will realize they are several miles apart and the priceing will be different from area to area. One area may be over run by powerwashers as to the other area not having everymany at all, which will make a defferents in what you can charge.

I can see boths sides as to how to market oneself in the powerwashing trade in their area.

I like make a lot do a little not do a lot and make a wittle.

The pricing in my area has went down from what it was 10 years ago,the newbee's believes in do alot make a little while driving around with a for sale sign on the rig.

O..Luckyboy people on the east coast talk defferent from the people on the west coast,it may sound smart to you and others but they are being nice as to how they talk in real life ,I think nothing of it b/c I'm in the middle *LOL*.

I understand Mel.

Chuck in the bottom of the T you can place a metering valve ensteand of the hosebarb to get different draws.I cann't think what the valve is called but its about the size of your hosebarb.Check the parts stores or farm supply stores for the valve, its like a needle valve, usually all brass,it has a small T handle to turn up or down....brain dead right now.

I know of nothing better than the HF on lime trailers...stay out of the wind, keep the wind to your back,if you can.A downstreamer will help keep if off of you as the wind has a harder time blowing it back on you

good idea on the valve big boy, that alot easier than changing hose barbs for diffrent draws.

Jon i,m not trying to bash, just tired of part- timers driving prices way down because their fuul time jobsa pay the bills so they can afford to undercharge.

Like bigboy said why do alot to make a little, when you can do a little to make alot?

Chuck I understand where your coming from, low ballers, part timers or fly by nights, call them whatever you want but they have and will always be around.

We could have law upon law for pressure washers yet they will still be there.

Heck there are a couple of national companies that do shody or cheap work, one claims to be the best and always puts others down.

The other prices are so low we really cannot compete with them, I compete against their quality and I point it out, I charge for it too.

We both know that for 1 or 2 cents your not going to get much yet those are prices they charge.

What can we do, truthfully nothing except to try and ignore them unless they hit on our customers.

Jon,
I agree with what your saying but I would like to just one thing. Since I woull fall into the Partime catagory at this time I can probably charge more then alot of full timers because I will not starve if I don't get the job due to my "Other Job".

Of course I also feel that I can do a better job then most as anyone who has confidence in thereselves should feel which justifies me in charging the higher prices.

Just another take on this Part time Full time jargon.

J.T. has a Good Point there!

Come on guys Cabin Fever already or what?

Where is the professionalism?

We do not have to agree with everyone, but do we need to ridicule or call names?

Is that what this board is supposed to be about?

I have seen a lot of HUNGRY FULL TIMERS BECOME LOW BALLERS over the years!

Lets try to keep it civil.

:)

As always most things in life there are 2 way streets. Just like Fulltimers and partimers and with the Lowballing. It can work Either way.

As far as a guy cleaning a house for $99 maybe it works for him. Just like going to a barber where one charges $25 and another charges $7. Whatever works for them. I don't let any of it effect what I do.

Clean Country and I do not always agree on things yet we are friends, it is our rights to be able to disagree and not get angry with each other or anyone else.

Ok so there is no misunderstanding here,

I am not saying ALL part timers or low ballers.

I know some have lumped all into one group and if that is the case what about the two companies I mentioned without saying their names, since they are very low in prices yet national and full time where would they fit in?

I guess they are "full time low ballers"?

Smart business operators or out to cut all of us out of the business at any price?

Mark probably said it all with two words.

CABIN FEVER.

Something California and Florida don't experience.

Unless you count rainy days that mess up a weeks work:(

And I pay $20 to get my hair done:cool:

One good thing about us,we talk about everthing in a thread,it doesn't matter what the thread started as.................

Comes on guys, read between the lines,I see different or read different from alot of ya'll.What ya'll call bashing and threats I see only as everyday talk as eyeball to eyeball meaning nothing of it.Atleast we do that here to each other as in alright Mr. wise'guy if your so smart why haven't you got a pot to piss in or driving something other then dat peice of chit ya driving or hey thats a good ideal why ant you someboby, pat pat pat good old boy ifen you're are dumb.

You have too understand everyday talk if your going to be good at what you do,it doesn't matter whether wearing a tie or rags understanding the way of life around your business is more important than how you look or ack which has its own part. Some costomers like being bashed as they will bash you meaning nothing of it as ifen they say I thought you could clean better than that and you saying do you want to buy a powerwasher, mine for sale,to many tightwads like you to work for or if you don't want a fatlip to go alone with dat smart mouth ya'd better get inside before ya have a heat stoke..or something worse.

I can understand each of you whether you bash, threat or setting with a tie on,guess dat the reason I laugh alot,ya'll funny.

isn't life strange

looks like i got my post booted,oh well.
The $99 thing is for single story 2-3 bedroom.
$25 for the gutters,$25 for the front steps and walk,$25 for rear patio,$25 for detached garage[one car].
There is your $200. It is just a sales gimmick to get people to call.
I know im getting a min of $99. I was wasteing too much time giving est. on little houses. By the time i went there, waited for the homeowner, discussed what i was going to do,set a price, returned to do the work, and actually did the work. I had as much sales time as wash time. This cuts heavily into time and proffit.
So now i get paid to do the est.[kind of]
Some people just think it cost's to much to even pick-up the phone to get a free est.
After you have a real good base of customers you dont need newspaper ads for $99 house washing.
Chuck i am also fighting the lowballers but i also learn from them.
Sometimes a piece of the pie is better then none.
If your making $5000 to $7000 a week,why bother making a x-jet?
My rig is just a mitsu. box truck with a Largo wash unit,250 gal supply tank, 4-25 gal chem drums,ladders,flo-jet with hand cart set-up,ext-wand,chems and parts, tool box,and wands.
It is currently un-lettered and thrown together.
I still need to mount the gen and air compressor.
The reason for fully setting up the truck is because i dont know the direction of WHAT i want to wash or restore.
I will set it up diffrent for wood if i get out of truck washing.
If i stay with truck washing, i will get a second wash unit.
Depending on what direction i go, ill letter the truck for the specific washing.
Chuck, wife, kid, huntin, fishin, washin, and making $20,000 to $25,000 a month. Then still have time to play on the computer.
Your a lucky guy.
Are you a one man wash co?
Any info on how to get where your at,i sure would be thankin you.
I know "how to wash" i could use the help in finding customers.
Merry christamas.

Ron, sorry to fly off the handle i just have been having fits with the 99 guys around here. I bid a 4000 square foot house with a large deck, and the gutters for 800 then had a guy come in behind me and bid it for 150. Thats what i can't stand.

I am usally one man but during busy season i work someone full time.

Its true i do make 5000 aweek sometimes but most of the time its more like 1000-1500, plus with the equipment and advertising payments i'm far from rich but i will be someday,i hope.

As far as getting to where i'm at,i just hustle, hustle, hustle and invest almost everything i make back into the business. It makes for alot less money now but will yeild high returns in the future.

Good Luck!!

And your right, i shouldn't judge folks from other arers, if you were in my ares you would be dumb to charge 99, but in your area that might be the thing to do, sorry for the posts.

Merry Christmas!!!

Mel,you get what you pay for. Looks like a too big surface cleaner matched with a low GPM unit and run to fast. Also might have the wrong tips. That guy prob makes the same $$ per hour as you. That's the sad part.
Chuck, Yes im part time-if that's what you call it. I work 45 hrs reg job and 20 hrs washing. 10 on sat and 10 on sunday.
I have been washing for 2 years and have never put on cent in my pocket.
$2000 per year truck ins. plus tags and fuel
$1300 per year buissness insurance.
4 monts a year,only truck washing.
$40 per truck and 15 trucks. No washing when below 32 deg because the trucks freeze up.
I have most everything paid off and am going full time this spring.
I now can get insurance threw my new wife for $50 per week, this has made all the diffrence.
Next step is my CDL so i can get a bigger rig.

Sorry ron you got a post booted,it should have been edited instead of deleted,if it needed it,oh well.Guess they can sleep better knowing or thinking they did the right thing.

Jon,thats a redneck duckblind.

Mel,crapy work is where the money is at,here some of the ones doing flatwork do not use any chemicals, cold water only.
But I'm like you,if I cann't clean it like I own it I do not want to wash it.

"If your making $5000 to $7000 a week,why bother making a x-jet?"=*LOL*,*LOL*,watch dat smart mouth ron,it may get deleted,*LOL*.

I like this thread. I'm with Bigboy. I don't see any real bashing just conversation. Different mentality with East coasters, West Coasters and Bigboy Country.

Sit down with a bunch of us East Coasters and you think you are getting attacked with Verbal airbombs when its just us guys having fun....at your expense.LOL

I learn alot when I read threads that show some emotions. I was laughing my tail off when I read Rons remark about the x-jet.LOL LOL LOL. Thats East Coast Humor.

Remember Horse Shack From Welcome Back Kotter. Everything was your mother this your mother that. Next thing you know my entire school adapted this attitude about always cracking Mother jokes and then ending it by saying "Lets get off this mom bit because I've been on your mom all nite"

Yes those were the days.....as a 13 year old.:D

The reason you bother making a x-jet, is the same reason you fleetwashers like mixing your own chems,to get more bang for the buck.

What difference does it make if you m ake5000-7000 aweek and then blow it all on newbe gimmicks, you know.

I did it my first year but when i starved over the winter i wised up.

Plus i like to make stuff just to see if i can. Iwanted to post mty concoction to help, not to start such a mess...but mess is pretty much clean now so lets get back to what this board is for,Helping one another.
