Washing in below 32 degrees

Yep!

My guys cleaned a truck like this and the temperature was around 20 degrees. Some of the fenders had mud almost 1 foot thick on top of them! Spent most of the time cutting the mud up!

My contact at the coal mine said that the truck had been running in 5 foot deep mud. This is a 6 wheel drive unit. He said that the driver had to keep the pedal to the metal or it would get stuck.

It was a loaner and was to be picked up the next day. Of course that didn't happen so we came out a week or so later and cleaned it again! Was above freezing the 2nd time.

We have also thawed out the truck scale at this Coal Mine. Frist time we did the scale the temperature was -15 below zero!

As long as the sun is shinning you can wash below 32,the wind chile also as alot to do with it.I washed Saturaday at 25 with a wind chile of 18,not my kind of weather to be washing in.

I have washed trucks and equipment as low as 11 degrees. Houses right at 32 degrees while snowing. Saturday I was doing new construction brick around 27 degrees. I am ready for spring!

I am booked

I am worried about the vinyl cracking. Has anybody heard of this happening because of the cold if water is applied ? I have 14 jobs still needing washed. All are house exteriors with 1 being commerical. I am not worried about the cold and myself. I am more worried about the cracking.

It's really not daytime temps that you have to worry about it is the night time temps. If you washed my house @ 32* I would get pissed...... The water that gets behind the vinyl will not be your friend.....

Hey Gordon,

You can do the houses with no problem, just don't use hot water. The sudden temp change will cause problems with the glass!

If you wash brick and the temps drop, if the brick was still wet & they freeze..... the face of the brick can blow off....called spalling I believe. You can work with the sunshine if you have it and possibly have no problems but why risk it...most homeowner's and builders don't want damage, even if they don't have to pay for it.

It gets below 32 degrees here in Southern California all the time. Actually the average temperature is around 25 degrees. Working in that 25 degree weather is really a pain, especially at night. Last week we were getting below 10 degrees and it was raining to boot. Boy was that rough. Wait are you guys talking about 32 degrees farenheit or centigrade?
