Water Diverter

I finally took some pics of the diverter that I made to prevent debris, water, and mud from entering the gutters.

I like the fire hose idea better; this is probably the least expensive fix. Around $30 for the paint and garage door weather stripping.

This is the diverter laying in front of the garage door at an angle so the water will flow towards the grass.

This pic shows the water flow and entering the grassy area, which actually waters the just laid sod.

What doesn't enter is scooped up into a wheelbarrow

This pic shows the water flow being redirected to the side where a area on the side captures the heavy material like nails, mud, whatever, and then the water flows over the small burm and then filters into the grass.

The picture doesn't show it well, but it is easily handling 5-GPM. Notice that the water isn't by passing the diverter. For the first couple of seconds, water will seep under neath but quickly stops because of the mud that fills these places in and then diverts all the water in the direction in which the diverter is angled.

This pic shows the water, which will slowly filter into the grass and will not make it to the gutter before it can be absorbed.

Appears to be a 2x4, can understand the weather stripping to help keep water from going into the street but why the yellow paint?

Seem's like it suits the purpose for New construction, what do you use for commercial work when there is no grass and dirt?

It is a 17 ft 2x4 with the weather stripping, or garage door seal, that is soft and creates a seal between the ground and 2x4. It reroutes all the water and debree into the grass and filters it.

The Yellow paint and the Red tips are Cal Osha Colors for safety. Keeps people, or at least it is suppose to, from tripping over it. Also makes it more official looking when the inspectors come around.

Can be used to route water to an area where it can be reclaimed, but I think the fire hose idea probably will work best for commercial.

Explains the color yellow, bright and if people watch where they are walking won't trip over it.

Cheap, easy to make and works.
