What is Good Advertising?

I'm brand new to this business. My question is about marketing. How do the Pro's do it? In my area I see signes on every telephone pole the read "Mildew Removal" and a phone number. I read some good advice in one of the colums about advertising to realtors. How about some specific recommendations and the cost of each. I'm sure I can put some signs up too but I still see a ton of homes even in my neighborhood that need to be cleaned and I've never spotted anyone doing a job in progress anywhere. Also, Ebay has some courses being sold. Type in "pressure washing " and you'll see a bunch of cdroms and other stuff. Are these usefull reading? Any feedback would be appreciated.

Marketing

Hello fellow entrepreneur. I'm a graduate business student at San Diego State Univ. (MBA w/a Marketing emphasis). I'd recommend you invest a few dollars for an automobile door magnet/sign or window sticker (and maybe a license plate frame). Also, don't be afraid to do some grassroots style marketing, such as printing flyers/postcards and putting them on car windows (maybe at Home Depots or Target). This is affordable, easy-to-do marketing. Finally, you should have your own website in this day and age. They're easy to make and FREE (try, www.tripod.com).

Maybe you can help me out. I'm working on a website that could REALLY help ya out. Below is a link to the survey that I'm doing to help assess service providers' needs. I'd REALLY appreciate your 5 minutes! Best of luck to you!

I've found that the signs on the back window and doors of my truck create lots of interest. It cost about $100 for the vinyl lettering and when people see my truck, they usually start asking me about what I do. The rest is up to you...
