Hi, I am starting a concrete cleaning and staining business in Florida. I am wondering what is the best way to advertise my business.

I suppose there are a lot of ways to do it, mailers, door hangers, etc. but Im th old fashioned kinda guy that likes to get out, meet people and shake hands. My favorite advertising tool starts by useing a firm handshake and 5 words. Look em straight in the eye as you shake their hand (Th 5 words are) "Hi there, how ya doin?"
Its always worked for me, and I feel that being live and in person get a better reaction than almost any other tool. I just let my up front and honest attitude come out, the rest is history. I treat my sales as more of a game than a desperate search, what th heck... everybody likes to have fun!
By th way, when you do this, make sure you put forth your VERY BEST IMAGE.

scott, it is my opinion that in order to get commerical flat work you need to do some important things.
one find the person in charge of hireing someone like you. It's not as easy as you might think.
Do you look like a professional? lettered rig,recapture system,nice shirt with co. logo[with collar],professional biz. cards,letter of insurance,msds for your chems.,proof of workmans comp.,fax #,24 hour #,lights on your rig,ect...
Then you need to have a good idea of what other contractors in your work area charge.
It's either beat the price,service,or workmanship.
Then you need to prove it to the customer. Free demo's.
Then sometimes there's a matter of grease, grease makes the world go round.[do you get my meaning?] property managers like grease, not owners. I would call them comp's.
[i dont encourage this, nor do i practice this, but lot's do]
Phoenix's ideas are good for homeowner customers.
[tip-ask the local pool supply shops if you can hang a flyer in there store?]

Thanks for the tips and quick response. It's kind of funny, I just had the phone company call me today for an ad in the new phone book coming out in October. I just want to say that I am glad to have found this web site. You guys give a lot of great advise. Just to warn you, I am new to this business. So I will have more questions. Thanks again.
