What it takes to run 2 guns?

Hi All Got a question for ya.

We currently run a 16hp vangard skid hot water unit
at 5.5gpm at around 3500psi. With a Cat 55 pump.

What is the cheapest way to upgrade to enable us to run 2 guns at 1500 - 2500 psi. A 4k to 5k pump at 8 gpm min? will a 16hp handle it? Would a 20hp handle it? Thanks Tim

Tim,

I am not sure I understand your question?

Least expensive upgrade to run -2-- guns good question, is that really what you need?

(Are you sure you are presently getting 5.5 GPM @ 3500 PSI? what nozzle are you running at 3500 PSI if it is smaller than a 5.5 you are not getting 5.5 @ 3500 PSI, actually 5.5 @ 3500 PSI calls for between a 5.5 and 6.0 orfice.)

If you split your 5 GPM washer to two guns you can keep 3000 PSI but you would drop GPM, 2.5 GPM is not very effective, for commercail power washing.

IMHO if you want to speed up your cleaning, you need to increase your volume such as an 8 GPM @ 3000 - 3500 PSI unit
it will wash circles around a 5.5 GPM @ 3500 PSi any day of the week!

The cheapest way would be to split the 5.5 gpm on the washer you have now.It may be slower in cleaning with the 5.5 split two ways as to the gpm to each gun.I think two guys with 2.2/2.3 gpm can do more than one guy with one gun at 5.5 gpm, depends on what your cleaning.I do not think I could make the 16 hp run at 8 gpm pump at 2500 psi, altho running 1500 psi on each gun it should handle it.

All Brite,

I moved your post to this section. (Equipment Help)
You can run one unloader Lock Up Type Only and two guns
with 1503 nozzles that will give you @ 2.5 GPM at around
3000 PSI from each gun. You will need a manifold after the
unloader (a tee to run your hoses to your guns)

The Giant 22913A has been used for multi gun systems for
years, its a little pricey but a good unloader for higher
volumes up to 13 GPM @ 3000 PSI.
FEATURES: * Pressure actuated unloader * Ideal for multiple
gun situation * Side port connections ideal for pressure
switch, gauge or pop-off installation * Corrosion and
erosion resistant design.

Technical Notes SPECIFICATIONS:
* Orange spring * Maximum Pressure: 3000 PSI * Maximum
Flow: 13 GPM * Maximum Temperature: 160 F * Inlet: 1/2"
FPT * Outlet: 1/2" FPT * Bypass: 1/2" FPT *
Repair Kits: Available * Weight: 2.75 lbs

The AL 606 is rated 8 GPM @ 3600 PSI it would probably
work for you. But I think I would go for the 22913a Giant.
