Oh so many choices out there ! I am ready to open the ol' wallet for the next step in my business expansion - a pressure washer. I have tentatively decided on a 3000 psi, 4 gpm unit with a 13 hp gas engine. Any opinions out there on this choice ? Big enough ? Not big enough ? To big ? Just right ? You should have your head examined ? Any opinions would be appreciated, thanks.

As long as it is hot water, that machine will serve you fine. IMO, you cannot clean exhaust systems without hot water.

I have seen some companies that prefer lower GPM. Mine is overkill at 5.5gpm for exhaust work but I have the flexibilty to do the the skirt work too.

Dude, I run this system. it's been good enough for me 4 24 yrs! You may find a tank is needed for even this @ 4gpm. anything over will certainly need a tank to supply. I find 4 gpm to be optimum, @ 3000 psi. HOT HOT HOT!! pre spray all with a good detergent. (I use BJ's oven cleaner, or Sparton, as it is thin enough to put on with a pump sprayer.

WOW you use BJ'S OVER CLEANER!! very interesting. I use sodium hydroxide to clean the hoods. How many cans do you use for one hood? Please tell me more!!

pwrwshr1,

How do you like that Spartan - I have heard some good things about it and it's made near Toledo, Ohio. I think most guys use sodium hydroxoide and water with a few squirts of dawn. Does the spartan burn your skin?

Ken is right, hot water is the trick. When you get real good, you can even you hot water from a water hose, no pressure washer required.
