I do mainly decks however, I was asked by a neighbor at a job I wasdoing about removing the white stains from the brick on the front of his house . The white from his alum. windows has leached onto his brick. What chem.,and procedure,is the best for restoring his brick. It looks like the whole street needs this service. Any help would be appreciated!!

jeff, sureklean 600 is only for new masonry cleanup. restoration cleaner by sureklean is what you want. i've used it for the same situation you describe and it worked great. duane

SureClean 600 will remove the calcium. This is what you are seeing. SureClean is specifically made for mason slag cleaning but does remove calcium build up also.

It is also cheaper than the SureClean (Restoration Cleaner) Just my two cents.

I did not think that white stuff was calcium, I thought it was the paint/coloring from the aluminum that comes off over time. When the rain hits the aluminum it carries the "color" down to brick below. How would there be calcium running off the aluminum?

The white is from the powder coat chalking off the window frames over many years. We do mainly decks and an ocasional house. I appreciate your experience and help on this forum. The only reason I may branch out into brick cleaning is that this whole neighborhood needs this service. Money is money as long as I can do the job properly.

Where can you purchase these products. Their website is not very helpful for finding a dealer. I have e-mailed them and have had no responce in 4 days. I must be small fish for them. I live in the Baltimore region of Maryland if anyone has a source for these products. My supplier for my deck business is Atlantic Pressure washers and he has recomended a product called something or other 101. When I asked him to recomend a product he used words like "I guess this will work for you" that left me a "little " uneasy about their effectiveness. Dstay1 sounds like he has been there and done the exact job.

First off, your distributor (Atlantic Pressure Wash) is one of the highest overpriced distributors in our area. I can not believe you are using them.

You can purchase Sure Klean material in southern Md. at Belair Road Supply in White Plains,301-259-2540. Ask for Mark or Tracey

What do you buy from Atlantic ? It would not matter but I am curious. Everything is high....

I buy from atlantic because I have had success with thier products. I only buy chems from them because, as you say, their equipment is priced very high. I buy equipment from northern tools and now home depot and lowes carry good pressure washers. I use only Sherwin Williams products for decks because I know they work. I try and do mostly decks because I have a lawn busines as well . When the lawns dry up in the summer we switch to more pressure washing. We have a system for washing and staining decks that get us in and out in one day for most jobs. I live in Eldersburg MD and if I could find a sure clean dealer near me I would love to try their products. I'm always looking for more profit!!$$$$$$$

Jeff, in some instances SureClean 600 works well for the white phosferrous stains that run off siding, other times the restoration cleaner works good, then others the most universal we use would be the 101 product called Dietrich 101 that is a sherwin williams product availible through thier commercial sales dept.
The type of brick your cleaning is the key. Be careful, some bricks are very soft and will break apart/chip chunks off if hit to hard or too long. And unfortunately sometimes they will take some damage just to clean completely off. Experiment on the different type of brick in that area and remember all brick are not the same, and all cleaners are not the same.

Find any type of concrete cleaner with HCl in it; not muriatic acid though. These types of cleaners are usually sold for removing concrete or mortar from equipment or trukcs. They contain a blend of detergents and acid. I am in the Lafayette, Louisiana and buy it locally, but one national supplier is Selig Chemical; I think it is called DOX 33.
