Just what we need another election! Just kidding.
I remember Dan's first rinky dink board and he turned that into
a great success, when he went with Vbulliten. I just hope this board doesn't change too much. All the boards are not the same. And I must say that this one is the best pressure washing board although I do mostly wood and go to Gregs board more now. There is a major wealth of info here. Hope it is not all lost because of petty squabbling.
I would have no problem paying...as long as it doesn't become one giant advertisement for the new owner.

I can't argue with ya. I had no problem donating $50 the first year here to help this bb along. To be honest I wouldn't mind a pay only membership at a BB so to get rid of the dishonest people that love to cause havoc on these bb's. This is just my opinion only.
As for people like Bigboy I would pass a referendum to let him in at a discount price or maybe even for free due to his involvement over the years. He would be one of the few I would allow to benefit from this referendum. As for myself I would pay full boat like most others should. This would keep the Board extremely professional and also help the board to generate income.
With that in mind the board could be a new growth of an up and coming organization that could benefit greatly us small contractors in many ways that no other organization at this moment in time has.
If this was ever done the board (BB) would always show where and how ours and sponsorships money was spent on a yearly bases so we can see how are hard earned money is spent and how to improve this organization through ALL OF US BEING DIRECTLY INVOLVED!!!!!!!
I could go on and on but in a nut shell, This new board would be for us guys/gals to help us in many ways and also help the ownership of it to.

I would join this as a pay, members only. I like the idea of Dan F keeping the board, and perhaps deligate more. I would suggest limiting the voting, or decisions to selected, senior members. Yes if we pay we should be informed, and asked for our opinion. Consider the voting and length of this thread. After reading all eight pages, could any of us make a decision?
Dan F, keep the board, there is a great deal of you in it. I can only imagine the time, effort, studing... you have invested. Just ask for help and take it to the next step. It may be our non-politically organization, and a source to develop our industry.

Your thinking is on par with mine. Dan F. could make money by having this as a paid site but he needs to promote teh hell out of it to make it succesful and if he aint into it it aint going to work. This is the reason why he should probably unload it.

Why would anyone pay dues when you could just go over to PWI or Deckguide and have the same people answer it for free?? Believe me, I'm the last person in the world that has a problem with someone trying to make a dollar. I'd put a gate up on the road i live on and charge people $5 to pass through if i could get away with it. But I just don't see this as a venture that would ever be profitable unless the money was coming in through sponsors. And even then it alienates so many other people and so many other comments that it is a problem as well.
I really think this is one of those things that cannot pull in much money, unless you do it like Greg, Delco and Glenn do it, where your company has the BBS and advertises itself.
There is another BBS that i frequent that caters to the log home industry, and one of the homeowners that posts often on there is a Silicon Valley big wig, and the admin. on that board is in the same boat, trying to make his bbs profitable. The Silicon Valley guy said that in all his time spend in this field, he's never seen a bbs that was able to produce a lot of revenue.
I think it is one of those things that you either have to do out of the goodness of your heart, or have your company sponsor the bbs, and hope it produces enough sales to break even.

I agree with you Jon M,have you also noticed how many pro's have either left the boards or only answer every now and then,,slowly coming to a end.And as for as some of the others you stated if they are like most one or two or a handfull is all doing the answering and trying to sale you their stuff,I have no problem with that.
And I think with a paid site you will see the others with just a handfull doing the answering,it want happen over night but it will happen.If you and several pro's where setting at a table talking about how to better this trade and a truckload of want-A-bee's plus two or three cut ya adam-apples where to walk in and set down beside you,would you stop talking about business as for them not to hear how to cut-ya-adam-apple or drag the trade down even more or keep the price down even more b/c of new found ways.Some are just interested in making a few extra dallars,some just wanting to get by while drawing goverment checks or like some of the boards telling them IF they need the money cut the price to get it.
It doesn't make me any differents what you'll do b/c like I said I'm leaving the boards too.Some of the others that owns boards come here and before you know it we're butting heads b/c we have different views then them,so you see,not all boards are the same.We all do not agree on alot of things but thats just human,we not only fight over b'annas but apples too.Go to your free sites and see how many pro's are doing the answering,not even a handfull on some boards and on some the ones answering have been in businsse a short time or part times,some not more than just a few months.

This board has a chat room or you can talk to a pro one on one if you want.Dan has done a great job in setting this board up,he also is trying to protect me and others by hidden our profiles.If you'll notice the ones that run from the board or leave the board are the ones trying to sale you something or wanting something FREE for their time helping.To me this type person is not worth the trust as to what they say on some things.NO Mark I'm not talking about you again as you may think,lol.
When in douht think it out,you never know,depends on whats behind the gate,put your gate up IF you have something to offer them in return,maybe a key....C-ya

I always thought that Dan Flynn did a great job with this bb but hey the writing is on the wall with Dan. He seems to be taking a different direction with his life by moving on to other things so he should do what he seems to be planning on doing by selling or giving away this bb to someone else.
To be honest I think alot of these bb's have lost there luster alltogether. They seem to be heading in the direction where alot of dot.com companies went where nobody gives a Crap about them and there old news. This is the main reason why I think alot of respectable people here and on other bb' have left.
Even the Kendra's of the world are pretty much goners with these bb's and even there businesses. IT makes you wonder that maybe like you always said that giving all these newbies all this info for free that they went out and made it tough for the seasoned pro's to earn a living which is maybe why some have got out of it alltogether...like Maybe a Dan Flynn(Don't know if this was his reason but just making a point)and some others
So again I ask you how would you make this bb work and be fresh again???? Or is it just plain stagnent where it has lost its luster and POOF gone to bb grave yard..

A board with an annual membership due isn't to suggest that it would be profitable to someone. I think it would simply make it a tighter circle. I belong to another board thats not PWing related the annual due is 29.95 there are rules and people follow the rules or they are gone. The mods answer questions people have BUT they do not get into biased conversations that are potentially explosive they have a place and that is to be mods. Here the mods get sh*t started worse than other members.
